Talk about not knowing anything about a technology that has been around for a long time.  I wanted to buy an HDTV wide screen to watch my beloved Red Sox, but the techno-babble was too much.  I’ve heard horror stories about guys going out and spending 2 grand on the wrong set and it scared the living day lights out of me.

First of all you need to understand my situation, late fifties, married, 6 kids (that’s not a typo), college tuitions, auto insurance, TAXES-TAXES-TAXES.  You get the idea.  My wife of 27 (wonderful) years and I have our priorites and it ain’t no HDTV.

BadbadbadjpgWell, as luck would have it the TV in the family room decided it was time to go.  I guess it had enough of MTV reality, news programs, Grey’s Anatomy, the History channel, green planet, and Morning Joe.  When you turned it on it looked like this.

Neat-o, a nice white line right in the middle of the picture.  We discovered with some technical investigation that smacking the set on the side would bring the picture to full view and proceeded to do this for 6 months.
